Paul is running the “Creative Connections” business development strand with Fiona Whitehurst, Mo O’Toole and Anna-Maria Steel.

Paul is a Lecturer in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Newcastle University Business School. He has been involved in multiple policy and practice-oriented research projects over the last ten years, funded by UK and European funding bodies.

These projects include researching the experience of small, high-growth firms in relation to the regulatory landscape; exploring how anchor institutions (including large regional firms and universities) can support small business owners to develop management and entrepreneurship skills; and researching the organization and value of small creative businesses in relation to urban development, innovation and graduate retention.

Paul is also the degree programme director for two postgraduate programmes – MSc Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship; MA Arts, Business and Creativity – which seek to meet the needs of knowledge-based, entrepreneurial and innovation-driven economies.
