Nkumbu is a researcher and designer interested in the role of art and design in society, currently completing a PhD at Northumbria University interrogating the meaning and role of heritage in Zambian fashion design. Having trained and worked as a creative practitioner, Nkumbu is interested in exploring the intersection of history, identity and design through a diverse range of approaches. Finally, Nkumbu aims to engage in research and creative practice which centres on the voices of people and groups that have been marginalised.
As part of the Creative Fuse team, Nkumbu supports the delivery of internships within the creative and cultural industry in the Northeast of England. Moreover, Nkumbu is involved in developing and disseminating research and practice outputs that are aimed at understanding and communicating the impact of such internships on the growth and development of the creative and cultural sector.
