Meaningful innovation happens at the intersection of different disciplines where the knowledge, know-how and expertise of multiple actors comes together around a common cause. The more diverse those actors, the more surprising the results. I believe that design plays a critical role in facilitating fusion in these multidisciplinary situations and in nurturing creative confidence amongst participants as they transition from ‘expert participant’ to ‘co-creative activist’.
I am confident that our research will bring to the fore design-led methods and tools that will deliver a step-change in responsible innovation capacity for the CDIT sector in the North East and beyond.
